DVS THROWING PROGRAM
THE DVS THROWING PROGRAM
YOU OWN THE GOAL.
DVS GUIDES THE PROGRESSION.
A throwing program that adapts to you every day. DVS uses your goals, schedule, workload, recovery, and actual throwing to help guide what you should do today and what comes next.
Know what to throw today. Understand why. Keep progressing tomorrow.
WHY THE DVS THROWING A PROGRAM?
YOUR THROWING SHOULDN'T START WITH GUESSING.
Every day brings new questions. Your throwing depends on your schedule, workload, recovery, and what you actually did, not just what was on a calendar.
I threw hard yesterday. What should I do today?
I'm sore. Should I throw?
I pitch Saturday. Can I long toss today?
When should I get back on the mound?
How far should I throw?
Am I doing enough to improve?
Most throwing plans tell you what was scheduled for today. DVS helps determine what makes sense today.
THE PROGRAM
Your goals. Your throwing. Your progression.
Whether you're building throwing capacity in the offseason, preparing for competition, or managing your workload during the season, DVS provides an individualized progression built around your goals and physical demands.
Your program connects what you've done, how you've recovered, and what you're preparing for next—helping you train with purpose throughout the year.

THE DVS APPROACH
EVERY THROW HAS A PURPOSE.
Your throwing program should help you accomplish much more than throwing harder.
DVS takes a purposeful approach to throwing development by connecting training intensity, individualized distances, and ball flight into a structured progression designed to improve performance.
Whether you're developing your throwing pattern or testing your ability to perform, every phase has a specific objective.
01 — TRAINING VS. PERFORMANCE
DIFFERENT PURPOSES. SAME PROGRESSION.
Training builds the pattern. Performance tests the pattern.
Not every throwing day should have the same purpose.
Training Phases build consistency, movement patterns, and throwing efficiency through controlled intensities, recovery work, and mound-specific skill development.
Performance Phases challenge your ability to produce quality throws at higher intensities through individualized distance throwing or mound performance work.
DVS helps you understand when to train, when to perform, and how each phase contributes to your progression.
Every phase has a purpose.
02 — INDIVIDUALIZED THROWING
YOUR VELOCITY. YOUR DISTANCE. YOUR PROGRESSION.
Every pitcher is different. Their throwing distances and intensity targets should reflect that.
DVS uses your maximum throwing-velocity reference to establish individualized throwing distances and intensity targets.
Rather than prescribing arbitrary distances, DVS connects throwing velocity and distance so you understand how far and how hard to throw based on your individual capabilities.
The objective isn't simply to throw farther or harder. It's to make the distance, intensity, and purpose of each throw work together.
Throw with purpose, not arbitrary distances.
03 — TRUE BALL FLIGHT
THE FLIGHT OF THE BALL REVEALS THE QUALITY OF THE THROW.
Throwing farther doesn't necessarily mean throwing better.
DVS uses True Ball Flight as a consistent standard for throwing quality across Training and Performance Phases.
Imagine throwing a baseball through a tunnel. A successful throw maintains a direct flight toward the intended target with a low trajectory, true backspin, and minimal unnecessary arc, fade, cut, or drift.
The throw should reach a target within the receiver's natural reach without requiring them to move their feet.
True Ball Flight gives every throw a measurable objective beyond simply reaching a particular distance.
Every throw has a standard.

BUILT TO ADAPT
BUILT AROUND YOUR WORKLOAD AND RECOVERY.
What you do today shapes what comes next.
Your last throwing session matters. So does how your body responded.
DVS considers your actual workload, soreness, recovery, and upcoming competition to help determine when you're ready to train, progress, or perform again.
TRAIN → RECOVER → PROGRESS → PERFORM
The goal isn't simply to do more. It's to be prepared to do more when it matters.

THE EXPERIENCE BEHIND DVS
THE SOFTWARE IS NEW.
THE METHODOLOGY IS NOT.
The DVS Throwing Program took more than a year to author and build for the inaugural season of the United States Professional Baseball League in 2016, and is largely responsible for the historically low arm injury rate among the pitchers of the USPBL.
But we've developed, applied, tested, and refined the methodology behind it since 2016
At its core is a simple objective:
Give pitchers a systematic way to navigate their throwing from one day to the next — based on what they did, how they recovered, and what they were preparing for.
USPBL pitchers share how the DVS Throwing Program helped them better understand workload, recovery, range of motion, and how to prepare their arms to perform throughout the season.
TESTED THROUGH
THE DEMANDS OF A PROFESSIONAL SEASON
The 2026 USPBL season provided DVS with the opportunity to apply this process every day under the changing demands of professional baseball.
Pitchers competed. Workloads changed. Roles changed. Recovery varied. Schedules moved. And players still had to prepare to take the ball again.
The DVS Throwing Program gave pitchers a structured way to navigate those daily decisions, while repeated shoulder range-of-motion testing allowed us to monitor how they were responding to the physical demands of throwing and competition. Together, they helped validate the value of the DVS Throwing Program and its impact on player health and performance for all pitchers during the 2026 season.
Hear directly from USPBL pitchers as they walk through how they navigated throwing, recovery, workload, and competition throughout the 2026 season — and how the structure of the DVS Throwing Program helped them understand what to do from one day to the next.
